- An environmental awareness campaign through media |
|
GEER Foundation launched a very popular a radio programme titled
“Hariyalu Gujarat” during this
year. The programme was started on 5th June, 2003 on
the World Environment Day with an inaugural message of the
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat. The programme is broadcasted
on every Sunday at 8.00 to 8.30 pm. from All India Radio,
Ahmedabad - Vadodara and Rajkot Radio Stations. The popular wildlife and environment related
themes like cats of Gujarat, Corals, Grasslands of Gujarat,
Biodiversity, Birds of Gujarat, Raptors of Gujarat, Nature
Education, Reptiles of Gujarat, Adaptation, Camouflage,
Nalsarovar, Joint Forest Management, Wild Ass Sanctuary,
Wetlands of Gujarat, Man-made habitats, Sarus, Flamingoes,
Snakes, Crocodiles, Insects, Water, Ozone depletion, Green house
effect, Pollutions, Medicinal Plants, Marine Life, Dinosaur and
fossils, Small Mammals, Wolves, Van Mahotsav,
Birds and Bird Calls etc. were covered. Till date, 490 episodes have been
broadcast. This programme has
received overwhelming5 response from the listeners and so far
more than 15,000 letters and
number of phone calls have been received. This
programme is prepared by the team of experts under the guidance
of officers of the GEER Foundation. |
